Ultimate (originally known as Ultimate Frisbee) is a fast-paced, non-contact team sport played with a flying disc. The game combines the non-stop movement of soccer with the aerial passing skills of American football. It is played worldwide by millions of athletes across youth, collegiate, club, and professional leagues like the Ultimate Frisbee Association (UFA).

The Field: Played on a rectangular field with scoring end zones at each end, similar to football.

The Pull: Every point begins with a “pull,” where one team throws the disc downfield to the other.

No Running: Players cannot run while holding the disc; they must establish a pivot foot immediately after catching it.

Passing: The disc is advanced by passing it to teammates in any direction.

The Stall Count: Once a player catches the disc, a defender (the “mark”) stands nearby and counts out loud to 10 seconds (or 7 seconds in some formats). The thrower must pass before the count ends.

Scoring: A team scores 1 point when a player catches a legal pass inside the opponent’s end zone.

Turnovers: If a pass hits the ground, goes out of bounds, is dropped, or is intercepted, possession instantly changes. There are no stoppages or downs; the defense immediately becomes the offense. Spirit of the Game (SOTG) How To Play Ultimate Frisbee
